About Hallucite and our guides

Hallucite helps reviewers, supervisors, editors and researchers compare references with available publication evidence. Our guides explain those checks and their limits.

Content reviewed

Who is responsible

The service is operated by Schötz It & Informatik UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Germany. The imprint identifies Michael Schötz as the person responsible for content and provides the company’s legal and contact details.

Guides attributed to Hallucite are published by the service operator. This organizational byline does not claim a specialist qualification, external peer review or an independent assessment of our product.

Sources and examples

Guides link publication facts and technical explanations to primary sources where available, including publisher records, the DOI Foundation, Crossref and NLM. A linked study describes its own data and methods; it is not a performance measurement of Hallucite.

Worked examples distinguish an existing publication record from a deliberately altered reference. They illustrate a comparison, rather than reproduce a user’s manuscript or establish the checker’s accuracy.

What the review date means

The date on a guide records a review of its wording, source attribution and explanation of limitations. It is a content date, not a claim that every publication record was refreshed that day. Source coverage and service availability can change; read the evidence returned for the check you are reviewing.

Publication identity, metadata differences and available publication notices require separate interpretation. A missing match does not establish fabrication or misconduct, and a matched publication does not establish that it supports a particular sentence.
